what's this course about?

Mental health is a fundamental part of your wellbeing. Discover the factors influencing mental health and recognise signs of problems in yourself and in people around you. Learn practical strategies to look after mental health like mindfulness. Find out how to have confident conversations about mental health and create your own mental health wellbeing action plan.

Early intervention and starting conversations around mental health is vital if we are to create healthy and resilient individuals. This informative session will introduce you to the topic of mental wellbeing. It will help to build your awareness of how we can encourage mental wellbeing and support ourselves and colleagues both in and out of the workplace. You will come away with a clear understanding of the early warning signs that indicate a dip in mental wellbeing and how you can respond effectively.

Our Understanding mental health: skills for life course takes places across the UK and is suitable for past and present ICAEW members and their families who would like to understand their own mental health and that of their loved ones and colleagues. Delegates will learn the skills they need to identify and respond effectively to improve mental health.

Please note: This course is not considered suitable at this time for those experiencing long-term problems with their mental health, including depression and anxiety. If you're experiencing long-term problems with your mental health, we recommend that you visit your GP for professional support, advice and treatment.
