we're by your side

We provide support to alleviate hardship and poor health faced by any member of our community. We support ICAEW community members, past and present, facing financial, mental, or physical health challenges through practical resources, tools, and most importantly, caring professionals at the end of the phone for helpful advice, guidance and, sometimes, just for a listening ear. Whether you need us today, or maybe just one day, you’ll always be able to reach out to us.

last year, thousands more people contacted us.

Last year, as the cost of living continued to put household budgets under strain and the growing role of AI raised concerns about job security, alongside ongoing pressure on the NHS from sustained high demand, we heard from more of community than ever before.

the difference we
made in 2025

Many people continued to face uncertainty due to global conflict and economic pressures, and the accounting community was no exception.  Demand for our support for ICAEW members and their close families continued to grow.

Over the past year, we focused on understanding the changing needs of our community, improving access to support, and helping people seek support earlier.

We remained focused on our vision that no one in the ICAEW community should face hardship or poor health alone. Our Theory of Change sets out how our activities help create meaningful change for the people we support, showing how timely, effective help can enable people to better manage financial and health challenges.

supporting mental health

Growing workloads, regulatory pressures, and ongoing family and financial concerns meant mental health support was more important than ever in 2025.

During the year, we provided 1,054 instances of mental health and wellbeing support - a 45% increase on the previous year, reflecting both growing demand and a greater willingness to seek help.

Clinical outcomes exceeded NHS benchmarks, with improvements seen in anxiety, depression, and overall wellbeing. Through our partnerships with PsychHealth and Qwell, we continued to offer counselling and online wellbeing support, giving people flexible ways to access help.

With the right support, 75% of people in our community reported improved health and felt better equipped to manage difficult situations

“I had a good therapeutic relationship, which gave me the safety
and comfort to express myself and work through things.”

providing financial assistance

For many accountants and their families, 2025 continued to bring significant financial pressure. Persistent cost of living challenges, coupled with wider economic uncertainty and concerns about job security driven by rapid technological change, placed additional strain on our community.
