No matter how much you plan for the unexpected, there are some things – relationship breakdowns, job loss, poor health – that you can't predict. Things that can leave you feeling financially vulnerable. While we can’t stop these things from happening, we can be there to help you through them when they do, so that money worries don’t weigh you down.
Find out how our financial grants and payments work, who they’re for and how to apply, and get in touch today if there’s something we can do for you.
Our grants are designed to help past and present ICAEW members, as well as their close family members, through financial difficulty, making sure that they have access to everything needed to live comfortably.
Financial difficulties look different on everyone, and you may not consider yourself as in-need as someone else, or perhaps you feel as though you should manage your issues on your own.
But if you are finding yourself worrying about finances, having to skrimp on household essentials, or being filled with dread every time you log onto your banking app, then chances are, there’s something we can do to help.
Don’t wait for things to get worse – we're here for you now.
We’ve broken down the situations in which we can help you with financial aid and grants. However, if you need assistance with something that isn’t included on this list, we may still be able to help.

To apply, you can either send us an email, phone us, or apply online through your my caba account.
In the initial contact, please provide your name, ICAEW number (or that of the eligible member in your family), contact number and/or email address, as well as a brief outline of what you need help with. From there, you'll be assigned a personal support officer who will manage your case, or if it’s something we can’t assist with, we will signpost you to an organisation who can. All our grants are means-tested, and we test eligibility for grants and financial assistance using the minimum income standard.
When applying, we’ll typically ask for:
Once submitted, your assigned support officer will review your application and be in touch to book an appointment to discuss your application within five working days.
Our financial aid is paid directly into your bank, typically within seven working days of an approved application. Monthly grants are paid near the 1st of each month, while one-off payments have a set date.

We handle each query on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes your issue might be entirely unique to you, and we endeavour to find a way of helping you in challenges that don’t fit neatly into a box. However, there are some instances where we won’t be able to help with grants, and will instead help you get in touch with organisations who can help where possible.
There's a few ways to apply. You can send us an email, phone us, apply online through your my caba account, or via contact form.
