what's this course about?

This course offers a structure to explore the practical and emotional aspects of retirement for everyone, whether you're single or in a relationship. Through discussion, tips and exercises, it offers you a chance to start planning your transition. It will help you mitigate the risks of social isolation, loss of confidence and loss of identity, and identify what is important so that you can maintain energy, purpose and fulfilment in this chapter of your life.

what will you get out of it?

You'll have the time and opportunity to really think about how you want to spend your retirement, by considering what's important to you, you will:

  • Reflect on, and identify, key factors in your retirement plan
  • Define your transferrable strengths and skills
  • Mitigate some of the risks in retirement
  • Draw on a wide list of tips and ideas for generating a fulfilling retirement
  • Build your draft plan

To get the most from this course, delegates should be either approaching retirement (within 2 years) or be within their first few years of retirement. If you have a partner, we highly recommend that you both book a place. You'll potentially be spending more time together, and this will offer a chance to share ideas and plan what you would like to do together and as individuals.

Please note this course does not cover the financial aspects of retirement. If you are interested in this, please go to the ICAEW website for upcoming courses.
