caba's People Like Me campaign lauded for helping to break stigma
caba has proved the importance of its work with a win at the ACO Awards and a Highly Commended recognition at the Memcom Excellence Awards – all within the space of a single week.
At the Association of Charitable Organisations (ACO) annual awards on 18th September, caba’s People Like Me campaign took home the trophy for Best Campaign. The initiative explored the lives of the people we help through candid, intimate videos, painting a vivid picture of the different challenges individuals face.
As the ACO judges highlighted, the campaign showed an "impressive ability to democratise access to mental health support and break down barriers, helping more people access the support they need."
The primary goal of the campaign was to encourage more people to reach out and break down any feelings of shame or the belief that "support isn't for people like me." Since its launch, we have seen an increase in people contacting us for support, as well as more ICAEW members stepping forward to share their own stories.
Suzie Dawes, caba's Head of People and Culture, said:
"It was a lovely moment to see the campaign, our colleagues and the work we do for the people we help recognised. We were also proud to be shortlisted for Charity of the Year and Outstanding Achievement, which reflects the brilliant work happening across caba and the positive changes we're making."
Just a few days later on 24th September, caba's impact was highlighted once again at the Memcom Excellence Awards, where the People Like Me campaign earned runner up in the Best Use of Video category.
Lauren Rogers, Head of Experience and Engagement at caba, attended the awards ceremony and said:
"It was a great evening and a special moment for caba. We're delighted to have our work and the people we help acknowledged on such a visible platform. We took away fantastic insights from the event and return with even more ideas on how to reach those who need us most."
What's next?
While we are proud of the recognition at both the ACO and Memcom awards, the real success behind People Like Me is that it has encouraged more people to reach out and ask for support.
We will continue sharing authentic stories to project diverse voices and ensure no one feels alone or unable to ask for help.
