what we've heard

We’d like to thank everyone who took part in both our incling project and mental health survey. We really appreciate the time and thought participants gave to sharing their experiences. Your input is helping us better understand mental health challenges and how support can continue to improve.

so, what have we heard?

Our mental health research explored the lived experience of mental health in depth, helping us understand how different pressures are experienced in everyday life. Some of the key findings include:

  • Financial stress plays a central role in mental wellbeing, with 63% of survey respondents identifying financial pressure as a key challenge.
  • Work-related stress is also a major contributing factor, identified by 74% of respondents.
  • Mental health challenges are often layered and complex, developing gradually over time rather than being caused by a single event.
  • Pressures linked to work, finances, health, and family responsibilities are often interconnected and vary depending on individual circumstances and life stage.
  • People most commonly seek support through familiar and trusted routes such as GPs, friends and family, or private therapy.
  • Awareness and understanding of available support can influence whether people choose to seek help.
  • Those who engaged with caba’s support reported largely positive experiences, with many feeling supported and emotionally reassured.
  • Participants highlighted the importance of support being accessible, clearly communicated, and easy to navigate at the point of need.
The findings provide valuable insight into how mental health challenges are experienced day to day and will help shape future improvements across our services and support.

what we’re doing next

We’re already using these insights to inform future improvements, including:

  • Developing and improving services based on customer feedback and lived experience.
  • Smoothing out parts of the customer journey to make support easier to access.
  • Reviewing how we communicate mental health support and the outcomes people can expect.
  • Exploring how conversations around fundraising and optional donations are approached.
  • Continuing to improve our website experience and navigation so people can find support more easily.
