The CABA story
What began with a £50 donation to a junior clerk in 1885 has grown into a global organisation supporting a community of over 500,000 people. For over 100 years, we’ve evolved and adapted to meet the changing needs of members of the chartered accountancy profession, embracing innovation and driving research to become a relevant, effective and trusted source of support.
A key turning point came in the 1960s, when the sale of land from a generous legacy donation secured our financial future and allowed us to dramatically increase the range and depth of services we were able to provide.
Part of that transformative legacy donation is still owned by CABA today. Peacock Meadows is now managed by Parks & Countryside on our behalf, so that the local community can enjoy the ancient woodlands and beautiful wildlife there, for generations to come.
Our long-term vision for the future is simple - all members of the chartered accountant community live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. To help us make that vision a reality we’ve launched an ambitious new strategy based on 3 key goals:
- To be a people focused organisation that embraces change and innovation. We’ll be at the forefront of benevolence, driving research and focusing resources where it really matters
- To be a credible and trusted voice on wellbeing. We’ll work more in partnership with other organisations - we know that we can achieve more when we work together
- To expand our international reach and support. We’ll continue to put past and present ICAEW members, ACA students and their families first in everything we do
