Role of a trustee

The scope of our Trustees' work

  • To ensure that CABA complies with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure that CABA uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.  As a charity, CABA may only spend money on activities that are within its objects, no matter how worthwhile or charitable other activities may be. 
  • To contribute actively to the Broad of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining
    goals and evaluating performance.
  • To safeguard CABA's reputation and values. 
  • To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
  • To ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
  • To protect and manage the property of the charity and to ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
  • To appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor his/her performance.
  • In addition to the above, each Trustee is expected to use his or her specific skills, knowledge and experience to help the Board of Trustees to reach sound decisions. 

The Ideal Trustee

Our Trustees must possess. 

  • A Commitment to CABA's objectives and values. 
  • A willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort.
  • Strategic vision.
  • Good, independent judgement.
  • An ability to think creatively.
  • A willingness to speak their mind.
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship (Training can be provided where appropriate).
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
