Course aim

To identify and understand what stress is and develop coping strategies and techniques.

Course details

If left unchecked stress can have a detrimental effect on your health and wellbeing and can adversely affect those who are close to you.

CABA provides subsidised Stress Management and Wellbeing training to Chartered Accountants to help ICAEW members address this growing problem.

The course will explore what stress is, and the difference between pressure and stress.

We will look at:

• Signs and symptoms of stress

• The performance curve – the effect of stress on performance

• Identifying individual causes of stress (work and home)

• Identifying burnout

We will then turn to ways of dealing with stress:

• What can be done in the workplace to reduce stress? Identify ways to deal with the causes of stress

• Thinking strategies – Avoid, Reframe, Cope

• Building resilience to stress – a healthy body deals better with stress

• We will look at nutrition, diet, exercise and positive coping mechanisms

• Relaxation and breathing techniques

• Emotional State Management

• The performance cycle
