Support Members are all members of the ICAEW, who have volunteered to give some of their time to help any other member in difficulty. They can be contacted in relation to any issue, whether personal or business and are there to offer support to the member in any way they can. They are not trained counsellors but are familiar with the Institute's processes and procedures and if they are not able to help themselves, they can usually put the member in touch with a specialist source of help or advice.

President's Appointments Scheme (for alternative dispute resolution)

Anyone can apply to the Presidents Appointments Scheme to ask for the appointment of an expert, valuer or arbitrator.  Usually there will be a dispute resolution clause in a contract nominating the President to make such an appointment in the event of a disagreement between the parties to the contract but in other cases the parties can apply jointly for an appointment to be made.  Once an application is received the ICAEW will select a suitably qualified member of its panel to take on the appointment, bearing in mind any criteria specified in the application.
