DEBT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
Having identified that a proportion of existing Beneficiaries are known to be
in debt (personal and business),
CABA developed a Debt
Management and Support Service to
complement the existing services already delivered
by the Beneficiary Team.
Through this service, we hope to:
Provide specialist advice and support to
enable users of the service to resolve their
debt issues;
Ensure Beneficiaries have taken appropriate
steps to minimise their liabilities and maximise
their income so as not to incur further
debt;
Help Members avoid loss of membership as a
result of Bankruptcy.
Debt is an increasing problem which now appears to be affecting a much wider section of the population.
Despite the growing publicity surrounding
debt, people are still not seeking advice or
assistance. This may be because people feel
embarrassed, or too stressed to seek help.
However, it is important to highlight that every
day debts are ignored, more interest is charged
and the nearer someone gets to enforcement
by the creditor. It is, therefore, imperative that
advice is sought sooner rather than later.
We can provide help with;
Free, independent, impartial and confidential
debt advice and support (face to face or on the
telephone) by experienced debt advisors;
Emotional support and encouragement
throughout the debt advice process;
Income maximisation – advice on benefit and tax credit
entitlement;
Budgeting;
Information on debt related matters, e.g.
rights of the debtor, the enforcement powers
of the creditor etc.
Negotiating with creditors and other third
parties;
The Interpretation of debt related letters,
legislation, court forms, official documents
etc;
Court representation.
PLE ASE NOTE caba is not able to assist
financially with the repayment of debts nor can we give financial advice.
