Here are some quick tips to help you save energy and money this winter:
1. Install draught excluders on your doors and windows
2. Turn appliances off standby - leaving them on still uses electricity
3. Insulate your house – many utility companies now offer grants
4. Switch to energy saving light bulbs – available at any supermarket or DIY store
5. Turn off your lights when you leave a room
6. Only fill a kettle with as much water as you need to use
7. Fully load your washing machine, tumble dryer & dishwasher before turning on
8. Set your heating and hot water to come on only when required
9. Turn your thermostat down. According to Energy Saving Trust reducing your room temperature by 1°C could cut your heating bills by up to 10%
10. Regularly service your boiler to ensure optimum efficiency
