You don't have to be a Chartered Accountant to access help and advice from CABA. If you are the spouse, life partner or widow of a current or former ICAEW member you are eligible for CABA support

Spouses, life partners and widows of Chartered Accountants often turn to CABA for support; for example when caring for an ill or incapacitated family member, at times of bereavement, stress, or in times of financial difficulty.

You may be facing financial difficulties, trying to navigate the benefits system, or perhaps facing life-changing events at a much younger age than you could have anticipated. These are just the circumstances that our highly trained advisors are used to dealing with.

After a bereavement or becoming a carer, you may simply need someone to talk to, or you may benefit from our signposting service, pointing you towards organisations that can provide specific help.

You may have a child who has support needs, or help in coping with an illness or disability. In these instances, too, you can turn to us at CABA for advice. In 2011, 136 spouses were assisted by one of our Support Officers through stress, bereavement, health and carer issues and relationship difficulties

We recognise that Chartered Accountancy can be a stressful occupation. Spouses and life partners are called upon to support their loved ones, and help them through difficult times. That, in itself, can be a time when you need support and advice from CABA.

We’ll help you look at all the factors influencing your situation, and then we’ll assemble the most helpful package of practical help, advice, emotional support and financial assistance.
